Concerts and Competitions
State and National competitions have given NYSW incredible experience in performance, as well as many opportunities for solo performances.
We have performed at the Sydney Opera House, Brisbane City Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Concourse in Chatswood, Canberra, Willoughby Spring Festival and many other venues. Prior to Covid, NYSW was planning concert trips to Japan, Singapore and Europe. We will pick up these plans when appropriate and safe to travel again.
Distinctions for outstanding performance
NYSW is a member of Band Association of NSW INC [bandnsw.com] and regularly competes in Junior A Grade division in the NSW State Band Championships and Australian National Band Championships. Unfortunately both these events were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid, with the NSW State Band Championships (although not the Nationals) returning to live performances in 2022.

We are eager and ready to add to our track record (and trophy cabinet) with performances for 2023 and beyond.

We participated in Australian National Online Festival of Bands, winning 2 Silver and 2 Gold awards, however, bands were not placed due to festival format rather than competition format. -

Band Camp and concert opportunities
Each and every concert appearance helps build performance confidence in our band, as well as individual musicians. NYSW is proud of participating in dozens of concerts and competitions over the years, with plans to continue growing and traveling to special events. Details on our Calendar.
Band Camp is also an outstanding opportunity for our musicians to immerse themselves in music while making friends and having fun at camp. We were thrilled to hold our first Band Camp in more than two years in March 2022. Our next band camp is currently being planned for March 2023.
